Safely Celebrate the Holidays at Home

Almost everyone enjoys a winter scented candle during the holiday season. However, it’s important to do so safely. According to the American Red Cross, fires caused by candles are four times as likely to occur during the winter holidays. One thing you can do to prevent fires in your home this season is to make sure you never leave a burning candle unattended. Consider using battery-powered candles that can achieve the same effect for a less risky holiday season this year.

Another fire hazard this time of year is Christmas trees. This doesn’t mean you should throw the whole tree out, but you should take some proper precautions. Christmas trees can cause fires and damage if they fall over, so make sure they are somewhere stable. In addition, if you are one of the many Americans who decided on a real tree this year, be sure to keep it properly watered so it doesn’t dry out. Dry pine needles are extra flammable.

There are so many different ways you can feel the holiday spirit this season. Be sure to take full advantage of the holiday activities, performances, shopping opportunities, and volunteering experiences in and around La Habra, CA, to get the most out of this holiday season. Follow the proper precautions, and we’re sure this will be the best holiday season yet! From all of us at Fair Oaks Apartment Homes in La Habra, CA, Happy Holidays!
