From the way we interact with each other to how we provide for our families, these uncertain times have taught us the value of community and the importance of supporting local business, particularly our restaurants.
While local restaurants slowly reopen their doors, supporting them makes a positive impact in at least three ways:
Local restaurants are more likely to source food from farmers. That means money remains in the community as it helps sustain local farmers, food producers, support programs, and services.
“Shorter distances between producers and consumers are associated with fewer carbon impacts and less waste,” says Daphne Ewing-Chow at Forbes. Instead of relying on lengthy transportation and expensive packaging, locally-sourced food requires minimal distribution.
Food that takes the shortest route arrives at the restaurant fresher. Should there be a health concern, it’s much easier to track locally-sourced foods rather than trying to track down a lengthy supply chain.
At Fair Oaks Apartments , we understand the positive impact supporting local businesses and restaurants have on a community. There are many choices nearby, but here are three of our favorite locations.
G Burger & Hot Chicken
The “G” stands for Gourmet, but G Burger & Hot Chicken is far from high-brow or stuffy. This local restaurant hangout offers fresh and delicious handmade burgers, tacos, fries, and chicken prepared with four different heat levels ranging from naked to crazy.
Come check out the menu at the restaurant OC Weekly voted as the best burger restaurant in Orange County.
Tacos Baja
The focus of this local hangout is all about the food. Be sure to check out their seafood tacos and shrimp ceviche tostadas, baja burritos, and shrimp quesadillas! Menu selections are simply delicious at Tacos Baja .
Marché Moto
What can you expect at Marché Moto ? This chef-driven menu is inspired by seasonal tastes and flavors. Try this unique tapas-style cuisine, which is modestly portioned dishes designed to highlight natural ingredients and flavors.
The casually elegant dining atmosphere offers traditional Japanese techniques applied to European-inspired flavors. Try the Seafood Risotto, Goat Cheese Mushroom Fundido, or the “Sticky Icky” chicken wings. This menu offers pleasing flavors for any palette. Give them a try!
One thing we can count on here in Orange County is sunshine, fresh ocean air, entertainment, recreation, and easy access to fresh, locally grown ingredients all year long. Let’s do our part to support local restaurants and keep access to locally-grown ingredients alive. Make it a point to visit a favorite restaurant this week.
